Cooling Crushing

The fused sinter mass is cooled, crushed, screened, and sent to be charged, along with the ore, to the blast furnace. Approximately 2.5 t of raw materials, including water and fuel, are required to... [Pg.44]

The reaction mixture is dehydrated at temperatures as high as 160°C (higher temperatures can be tolerated than with resoles). The prepolymer is cooled, crushed, blended with 5-15% hexamethylenetetramine, (CH2)6N4, and sold to the fabricator. Hexamethylenetetramine, referred to as hexa, is the product of the reaction of 6 mol of formaldehyde and 4 mol of ammonia. Curring occurs rapidly on heating with the formation of both methylene and ben-zylamine crosslinking bridges between benzene rings. The crosslinked network is pictured as... [Pg.125]

Pulverization. The nitrated pitch becomes brittle on cooling. Crush it with a wooden mallet and pulverize it in a ball mill. [Pg.278]

The sinter is cooled, crushed to pass 100 mesh, and leached at 8S°C with 1 percent HCl. The product is filtered at 80°C, then cooled, to crystallize K2ZrFg(+K2HfFt), which are filtered off and washed with water. [Pg.333]

Air-cooled - Crushed ACBFS is angular, roughly cubical, and has textures... [Pg.92]

The polyester alkyd molding compositions are also based on a polyester resin similar to those used for laminating. (The term alkyd is derived from alcohol and acid.) They are prepared by blending the resin with cellulose pulp, mineral filler, pigments, lubricants, and peroxide curing systems on hot mills to the desired flow properties. The mix is then removed, cooled, crushed, and ground. [Pg.445]

Selenium [7782-49-2] M 79.0, m 217.4", d 4 4.81. Dissolve selenium in small portions in hot cone HNO3 (2ml/g), filter and evaporate to dryness to give selenious acid which is then dissolved in cone HCl. Pass SO2 gas through the solution whereby selenium (but not tellurium) precipitates. It is filtered off and washed with cone HCl. This purification process is repeated. The selenium is then converted twice to the selenocyanate by treating with a 10% excess of 3M aqueous KCN (CARE), heated for half an horn on a sand-bath and filtered. Add an equal weight of crushed ice to the cold solution, followed by an excess of cold, cone HCl, with stirring (in an efficient fume cupboard as HCN is evolved) which precipitates selenium powder. This is washed with water until colourless, and then with MeOH and is heated in an oven at 105°. Finally it is fused for 2 horns in vacuo. It is cooled, crushed and stored in a desiccator [Tideswell McCullough Chem Soc 78 3036 1956]. [Pg.605]

Vanadium trichloride is a purple solid, made by thermal decomposition or reduction of the tetrachloride, the latter, in turn, being produced by chlorination of ferrovanadium as described in Chapter 2. Before use, the trichloride can be freed from the oxytrichloride, and other low boiling impurities, by simple distillation. The solid is then cooled, crushed and screened ready for use. [Pg.268]
