Cooling belt press

Impregnation with PP is done on a double belt press that consolidates the fibers with PP under the influence of pressure and temperature. After the composites cool, the GMT semifinished product can be cut for specific applications. [Pg.211]

Pressing is similar in principle for all types. A heated platen or belt softens the resin, and flow occurs, together with a pre-determined degree of cure. After a defined heating cycle the laminate is cooled, either naturally in ambient conditions, or as part of the pre-determined press cycle with the aid of a coolant. Figure 3 shows typical pressing configurations. Table 1 indicates typical pressiues, temperatures and press cycle times. [Pg.476]
