Continuous fiber reinforced profiles in polymer matrix composites

The first application area was in the 1960s, when fiber reinforced profiles were appUed to concrete. Over the past years the production speed has been enhanced due to faster impregnation and modem methods tend to increase the strength and stiffness in off-axis direction. Today, pultrusion profiles are applied in many fields of industry such as window and door frames, marine constructions, ladders, railway carriages and stairways. Furthermore, many companies are associated in the European Pultrusion Technology Association.  

There are only a few reinforcement materials that are relevant for usage in practical application. These are glass fibers and different types of carbon
