Informed consent, acquisition

Following acquisition of written informed consent, 1030 patients were studied, 97.5% of whom were male. The mean age was 47.2 years 29% of the patients had overt diabetes, 52.1% were current smokers, 22.3% had previously diagnosed hypertension (BP > 140/80 mmHg), mean BMI was 25.7 ( 3.9), and 9.3% had sustained a previous myocardial infarction. All were admitted within 6 hours following the onset of chest pain, most very early (mean = 195 minutes) (Tables 3.1-3.6). [Pg.70]

Participants. Ten participants were recruited from the university, high school and members of the public in the Manchester Area (mean age=18.8, SD=9.1). All participants (8 female, 2 male) have some computer and mouse experience (mean=3.2 years, SD=2.6). None of the participants was familiar with the target acquisition task.
