Consciousness Primordial

Mercury is the alchemical symbol for consciousness because the metal mercury, quicksilver, is used to coat glass to make mirrors. The mirror, in both Eastern and Western traditions, is often used as a metaphor for the inherently pure and transparent nature of mind, pure awareness, the light of Primordial Consciousness. It is in the mirror of human consciousness that God beholds God. [Pg.146]

This book is a manual to the science of Hermes, the Thrice-Great, and a true guide to that Sacred and Royal Art. It presents the specific teachings and guided practices that will enable the sincere aspirant to attain to the secret of all spiritual works that can culminate in the completion, the Great Work. For this work is theurgy— Divine work —the true Alchemy that is the practical application of the holy Qabalah. It leads to the attainment of the Philosopher s Stone, whereby the personal consciousness and the Primordial consciousness unite as one. That Stone—the Jewel of Eternity—overcomes all limitation, heals all disease, and brings an end to the need for death itself. [Pg.280]

The goals of transcendental meditation are similar to those of the relaxation response. Being derived from Eastern mystical practices, they have a distinctive philosophical and cultural spin. Instead of seeking to instill identifiable and tranquilizing mental content, transcendental meditation practitioners seek a state of consciousness that is devoid of content. This contentless consciousness is believed to be pre- or extra-existential, cosmic, or otherworldly hence the term transcendental. It is this reconnection with primordial, universal, preverbal awareness that confers the benefit of transcendental meditation. Here we are clearly in religious territory. [Pg.316]

The movement of consciousness is like the movement of sound. Like a single note alighting on the air. It s essential quality does not change, it expands. How does consciousness, a solitary point of awareness, this primordial egg, become the universe ... [Pg.44]

The consistency of these themes suggests that the entities associated with the belladonna alkaloids are primordial earth-forces (always symbolically female) which have been brutally and systematically repressed in human consciousness for literally thousands of years. A goddess repressed is a woman scorned, and her archetype appears in the collective psyche as a dangerous and destructive entity out to revenge herself on the patriarchy that usurped her power. [Pg.121]
