Connection design partial safety factors

P(3) The design approach for joining techniques for other mechanical connections shall be by testing. The principles of the design and verification approach shall be as described in 7.3 and the partial safety factors shall be as given in S.i.iO P(3). 

P(2) Testing shall be carried out where there is insufficient knowledge of the properties of the material. The resulting data may then be used in design with reduced partial safety factors (see 2.3.3). and in the design of connections (see Chapter 5 and 7.3.3). 

The partial safety factors given in the EUROCOMP Design Code are based on the earlier experience and general knowledge on connection design of the EUROCOMP member participants. They are not based on any specific tests or analysis. 

The following values for partial safety factors for materials may be obtained from 2.3.3.2 and 5.1.10 in the EUROCOMP Design Code for the adhesively bonded connection designed by testing ... 

P(6) For an adhesively bonded connection and a bonded insert joint designed by testing, the following partial material safety factors shall be used ...
