Connecting containers

Under sterile conditions in a tissue culture cabinet, remove the seal from one of the adapter caps and insert a sterile disk filter (0.2 pm) in the cap. Remove the seal from the second adapter cap and insert a 5/16-inch stainless-steel connector into the second cap. The stainless-steel connector is part of a multiplate-end connection (Figure 5.7.1) designed to facilitate transfer of ingredients and cells, as well as final harvest. Each and every end of this connection contains sterile wrapping and should be clamped individually using spring or screw clamps. 

On top, a high-level Data Model (cf. part 2 of ISO 15926) introduces generic classes like physical object, activity, and event, and defines generic relations, such as composition, connection, containment, and causality. Also, the aforementioned 4D approach is established here. The Data Model is domain-independent and contains roughly 200 classes. 

Connection allocation produces the bus structure. For each transfer, a set of connections containing wires, switches, and busses must be allocated in such a way that parallel transfers do not use the same resources. The efficiency of the result of this step largely depends on previous synthesis steps. 

Transverse continuity may be provided by using an in situ concrete connection containing looped reinforcement cast into the slabs (Fig. 8.3) an alternative arrangement using folded steel plates may also be used (Fig. 8.4). The primary shear connection is provided by shear studs welded alternately to the soffit plate and the longitudinal beam flange. It is important that the precast/i situ construction joint occurs well away from the beam flange to avoid excessive rotations and subsequent slab distress under traffic loads. 

Regulators shall be either directly connected to the container valves or to manifolds connected to the container valves. The regulator shall be suitable for use with LP-Gas. Manifolds and fittings connecting containers to pressure regulator Inlets shall be designed for at least 250 p.s.i.g. service pressure.
