4 Conjugation of amino acids with other compounds 

Conjugation involving amino acids is a normal metabolic route in some cases. For example, a bile acid such as cholic acid is partly converted into glycocholic acid (8.4) in man, possibly to increase the critical micellar concentration in water and thereby facilitate the transport of lipids around the body.
