Conjugated molecular structure

In polycationic dyes such as 24, the presence of a conjugated molecular structure is only of secondary importance. The positive charge is sufficient to enable complete exhaustion onto paper fibers. 

Tbis tecbnic ne is available only for the MM-i- force field. As is true for the conjugate gradient methods, yon should noi use this algorithm when the initial interatomic forces are very large (meaning, the molecular structure is far from a inmiimim).

Resonance or electromeric effects. Certain molecular structures are characterized by the possibility of having two or more compatible electronic structures and the molecules exist in a resonance state intermediate between the several extremes. These effects are particularly characteristic of aromatic structures and other molecules containing conjugate double bonds. 

Appending different terminal groups to the ji-conjugated ends, the cyanine-like molecules may have the following molecular structures D-ji-D, D-ji-A, and A-ji-A. Additionally, electron acceptor/donor groups may be included into the main Ji-conjugation chain to form D-7i-A-ji-D or A-ji-D-ji-A quadrupolar structures. These basic structures are shown schematically in Fig. 4 and discussed in detail in Sect. 3.
