Conjugated coupling

DCC is a waxy solid that is often difficult to remove from a bottle. Its vapors are extremely hazardous to inhalation and to the eyes. It should always be handled in a fume hood. The isourea by-product of a DCC-initiated reaction, dicyclohexyl urea (DCU) (Figure 3.5), is also water-insoluble and must be removed by organic solvent washing. For synthesis of peptides or affinity supports on insoluble matrices this is not a problem, because washing of the support material can be done without disturbing the conjugate coupled to the support. For solution phase chemistry, however, reaction products must be removed by solvent washings, precipitations, or recrystallizations. [Pg.225]

Equation A2.19 is one of the possible ways to switch from a couple of variables to another conjugate couple. Most transforms adopted in the thermodynamics of systems with two independent variables are based on equation A2.19 and its modifications (Legendre transforms, cf section 2.4). [Pg.808]

Free daunomycin and not PEG-conjugated hposomes containing daunomycin, disappear rapidly from the circulation. Plasma clearance of the hposome was reduced 66-fold by PEG-conjugation. Coupling 29 0X26 monoclonal antibodies per PEG-liposome partially reversed the effect of PEG-conjugation on plasma clearance. [Pg.49]

For synthesis of peptides or affinity supports on insoluble matrices, this is not a problem because washing of the support material can be done without disturbing the conjugate coupled to the support. For solution phase chemistry, however, reaction products must be removed by solvent washings, precipitations, or recrystallizations. [Pg.199]

The length of a polymer chain is an important characteristic of a CP. As discussed in Chapter 11, electron conjugation couples several (often many) repeat units along the chain, and there is a conjugation length whose intrinsic value may be large. For the properties of the infinite chain (the system generally discussed in theory) to be experimentally accessible,... [Pg.540]

Here, H O plays the role of base but, combining with H, forms an acid - hydroxonium H O. Acids (donors of H ) and bases (acceptors of H ) in such elementary reactions are called conjugated couples, which exchange proton (analogue of redox-couples). [Pg.99]

The carbonate buffer system is the conjugated couple COj /HCOj in the presence of CaCO. This couple is connected by the reaction... [Pg.104]

Bicarbonate buffer system is a conjugated couple HCO3/H2CO3 in the presence of CO with relatively stable partial pressure. It is also called hydrogen-carbonate or hydrocarbonate system. Reaction of this couple... [Pg.105]

In this section we will consider phases with N components and we will choose the following variables the N quantities of matter n, and the p intensive variables for the other conjugate couples. We call the partial molar variable of an extensive funetion its derivative with respect to the amount of matter of a compound whose intensive variables and all the amounts of... [Pg.7]

Let us consider a partial molar variable. In a uniform solution, this variable is a function of the variables of the problem, i.e. some intensive and extensive variables belong to other conjugate couples of J. If we have one mole of a solution overall, by having the molar fractions jc, as the composition... [Pg.54]
