ASTM E2102-lla (standard test method for measurement of mass loss and ignitabihty for screening purposes using a conical radiant heater) and ISO 5660-1 2002 (reaction-to-fire tests-heat release, smoke producTion, and mass loss rate - part 1 heat release rate, cone calorimeter method) for mass loss. [Pg.17]

In this test the foam specimens are ignited with a conical radiant heater, the thermal flux applied on the specimen surface being 50 kW m . The specimens tested had a size of 100 mm by 100 mm with a thickness of 50 mm. The samples are wrapped in aluminum foil in order to have only the upper surface exposed to the radiant heater. Two specimens are used for each measurement and the results are averaged. [Pg.203]

This measures the susceptibility of a material to be ignited by an external flame and when exposed to a radiant heat source. The radiant energy is applied from a conical heater, thus giving a uniform heat flux over the sample. The severity of the test can be varied by varying the energy output from the radiant heater. [Pg.267]
