The micellization and adsorption properties of industrial sulfonate/ ethoxylated nonionic mixtures have been assessed in solution in contact with kaolinite. The related competitive equilibria were computed with a simple model based on the regular solution theory (RST). Starting from this analysis, the advantage of adding a hydrophilic additive or desorbing agent to reduce the overall adsorption is emphasized. [Pg.275]

Some of these measures are part of larger, semistructured interviews administered by the therapist. The most commonly used assessments in this category are a family of instruments developed mainly in the Veterans Administration (VA) hospital system. The first instrument in this family is known as the Addiction Severity Index (ASI McLellan et al., 1985). The ASI assesses for a wide variety of biographical data, so it has the advantage of potentially being used as part of an intake interview. The ASI asks about consequences in a wide variety of life domains, and determines recent and lifetime patterns of drug and alcohol use. The ASI also detects recent and lifetime occurrence of problems in these different life domains (e.g., work). Each domain can be scored for the severity of the problems based upon the responses of the client and the clinical judgment of the interviewer. The ASI can be administered by computer to provide for rapid interpretation of answers. [Pg.152]

To assess molecular diversity, clustering techniques may be used based on computed properties, as well presented in a noteworthy paper. With combinatorial libraries, the very large number of compounds to be handled precludes any type of measurement or complex computational technique, strengthening the advantage of rapid fragmental methods such as CLOGP. [Pg.300]

These models consider either the thermodynamic or mechanical non-equilibrium between the phases. The number of conservation equations in this case are either four or five. One of the most popular models which considers the mechanical non-equilibrium is the drift flux model. If thermal non-equilibrium between the phases is considered, constitutive laws for interfacial area and evaporation/condensation at the interface must be included. In this case, the number of conservation equations is five, and if thermodynamic equilibrium is assumed the number of equations can be four. Well-assessed models for drift velocity and distribution parameter depending on the flow regimes are required for this model in addition to the heat transfer and pressure drop relationships. The main advantage of the drift flux model is that it simplifies the numerical computation of the momentum equation in comparison to the multi-fluid models. Computer codes based on the four or five equation models are still used for safety and accident analyses in many countries. These models are also found to be useful in the analysis of the stability behaviour of BWRs belonging to both forced and natural circulation type. [Pg.18]
