To combat more tolerant, ie, resistant coccidia, particularly E. acerulina and E. maydma a 1 1 combination of narasin and nicarbazin, eg, 0.45 kg premix containing 36 g of each compound, has been marketed as Maxiban by Elanco. An imprecise term used sometimes in the sense of masterbatch, sometimes with the meaning of a blend of compounding ingredients for subsequent addition to the elastomer on a mill or in an internal mixer. Premix moulding is the same as dough moulding. 

The infrared technique has been described in numerous publications and recent reviews were published by Davies and Giangiacomo (2000), Ismail et al. (1997) and Wetzel (1998). Very few applications have been described for analysis of additives in food products. One interesting application is for controlling vitamin concentrations in vitamin premixes used for fortification of food products by attenuated total reflectance (ATR) accessory with Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) (Wojciechowski et al., 1998). Four vitamins were analysed - Bi (thiamin), B2 (riboflavin), B6 (vitamin B6 compounds) and Niacin (nicotinic acid) - in about 10 minutes. The partial least squares technique was used for calibration of the equipment. The precision of measurements was in the range 4-8%, similar to those obtained for the four vitamins by the reference HPLC method. 

The catalytic reduction of the radicals, particularly the O atom, by sulfur compounds will generally reduce the rates of reactions converting atmospheric nitrogen to NO by the thermal mechanism. However, experiments do not permit explicit conclusions [21], For example, Wendt and Ekmann [46] showed that high concentrations of S02 and H2S have an inhibiting effect on thermal NO in premixed methene-air flames, while deSoete [47] showed the opposite effect. To resolve this conflict, Wendt el al. [48] studied the influence of fuel-sulfur on fuel-NO in rich flames, whereupon they found both enhancement and inhibition. 

As additives to reduce soot output in flames, metal and organometallic compounds, such as ferrocene, have attracted the attention of many investigators (see Ref. [113]). Early workers had noted the colours imparted to diffusion flames of alcohol by metallic salts, but detailed study of these colours awaited the development of the premixed air-coal gas flame by Bunsen. In 1859, Kirchhoff showed that these colours arose from line spectra due to elements and not compounds. He also showed that their wavelengths corresponded to those of the Fraunhofer lines. Kirchhoff and Fraunhofer had been observing atomic emission and atomic absorption, respectively.
