Companies mole ratios from

A mole ratio is the ratio of the number of moles of one substance to the number of moles of another substance. Because coefficients can represent moles, molecules, or atoms, you can think of a mole ratio as a coefficient ratio. For example, look at the equation for aluminum oxide, 4A1 + 302 —> 2Al203. You can pick any two substances from the equation and determine their mole ratio. The mole ratio of Al to Al203 is 4 2 or 2 1, while the mole ratio of 02 to Al203 is 3 2. This leads to another type of problem that you might encounter. Suppose you were asked to produce 1,000 moles of Al203 for a big chemical company. How much aluminum and oxygen would you need to purchase Start with the balanced equation 4A1 + 302 — 2Al203. [Pg.104]

Melt spun fibers of copoly(HBA/DHN/TPA) were obtained from Celanese Research Company for three monomer mole ratios 60/20/20, 50/25/25, and 40/30/30. These copolymers had been prepared by melt copolymerization of the three monomers (using the acetoxy derivatives of HBA and DHN) as described by Calundann [9]. Melt spun fibers of HBA-modified PET were supplied by Tennessee Eastman Company, and contained 60 and 80 mole % HBA. These had been synthesized from PET and 4-acetoxy-benzoic acid by transesterification in the melt, as described by Jackson and Kuhfuss [10]. [Pg.170]

Potassium ferf-butoxide was purchased from Columbia Organic Chemicals Company, Columbia, South Carolina. The molar ratio of potassium ferf-butoxide to water is critical, and the amounts specified represent optimum quantities for cleavage of 0.10 mole of ketone.2,3... [Pg.30]

Chromium trioxide (obtained from J. T. Baker Chemical Company) is stored in a vacuum desiccator over phosphorus pentoxide prior to use. Six-mole equivalents of oxidant is required for rapid, complete conversion to aldehyde. With less than the 6 1 molar ratio, a second, extremely slow oxidation step occurs (see reference 7). [Pg.85]
