Community of Interests

To explain why a huge organization far removed from our supper table had a special meaning to my wife, too, would take volumes. Farben had a most artless full name, "Interessen Gemeinschaft Farben Industrie Aktiengesellschaft," which means "Community of Interests of the Dyestuffs Industry, Incorporated." In more pleasant days, when my wife first heard the name, she had commented that it sounded like a cross between a service club... 

It is helpful to understand whether stakeholders represent communities of interest or communities of place. A community of interest may be a body of individuals, institutions, industries, and so on with an interest in an issue (e.g., charities devoted to clean air or anglers lobbying for clean water). A community of place will be a community or set of communities inhabiting an area that will be affected by a particular standard (e.g., a riparian community).

In the meantime, USA in its mining industry possesses rigorous safety supervision and law enforcement system. The key of its success is represented in up-to-down coalmine safety supervision framework, rotational supervision personnel system, thunder-patterned supervision and law enforcement force. Furthermore, in the structure of the mechanism, a community of interest including the supervisors, mine operators and local governments is avoided. 

Much the same pattern of reorganization took place in other fields. For fertilizer products, such as nitrogenous fertilizer, H. Ahrens Co. Nachf. was established in Tokyo as the sole representative for the Community of Interests from the outset. As shown in table 1, sales organizations for pharmaceuticals, photographic products, and titanium were reorganized or newly established in succession. 

Although MIMS has attracted much attention because of the aforementioned advantages over traditional analytical techniques for both disinfectants and DBFs [8], its use has so far been restricted to the cognoscenti of the research field. In this chapter, we present the protocols for implementing MIMS with the intention of expanding its access to a greater community of interested users. We focus our discussion on MIMS instruments using capillary membrane introduction probes [9], which have been the choice for water disinfection applications. More comprehensive reviews of MIMS development and applications are available in the literature [1,10]. 

A 2500-Ci Cs gamma facility was established at Emory University for ecological research (Platt et al., 1964) to be used to interpret further some of the observations made at the air-shielded reactor (Figure 11). The organisms or communities of interest were brought to this facility for irradiation. 

The turkey or the deer are symbols of the hunter s commitment, her enthusiasm for hunting. To confuse killing with hunting is fundamentally erroneous, though killing is an occasional and necessary part of the politics of the hunt. It is the anticipation, the preparation, the development of and then the participation in a community of interest that defines hunting that and the opportunity to participate in something both primitive and eternal.
