The columns should be stored in a neutral or slightly alkaline buffer (PBS or borate buffers are suitable) and sealed to prevent drying out. Storage at 4 °C in the presence of a preservative such as 0.02% sodium azide or 0.02% Thimerosal (Sigma) will prevent bacterial growth.
