Column section breakdown

The CS situated at the top of the column, terminated by a condenser, is a standard rectifying section, while the bottommost CS, terminated by the reboiler, is a standard stripping section. These are the product producing CSs and behave in the same way to the product producing CSs in simple columns (see Section 5.3). All the remaining CSs are internal CSs which do not produce products but are created by the addition of [Pg.158]

Note that we limit our discussions in this book to a single liquid feed that is split and distributed at various points along the column length. The method described can easily be adapted for wapor feeds, as well as for different feed compositions at each addition point. [Pg.159]

Since tray efficiencies vary from one section to another, it is best to apply Eq. (14-132) separately for the rectifying and stripping sections. In practice, efficiency data and prediction methods are often too crude to give a good breakdown between the efficiencies of different sections, and so Eq. (14-132) is applied over the entire column. [Pg.48]

The comment column of Table IV- provides supplementary infomiation on the physical and chemical properties of substances, which would be helpful in assessing their health hazards. Infomiation such as physical state and appearance, vapor pressures, warning properties, and potenti breakdown products is included. [Pg.530]

A simple column (i.e., one with a single feed and two products) will thus have two CSs, one below and one above the feed, as shown in Figure 3.1a. These particular CSs are more commonly referred to as the rectifying section (1) and stripping section (2).
