Colors, choice

Color Properties Required. Colorants must be chosen to permit formulation of a coating that can meet performance requirements such as exterior durability and resistance to solvents, chemicals, and heat. Health and safety regulations may also affect colorant choice. [Pg.345]

The initial uses of colorants in plastics were as extenders and additives. Carbon black and titanium dioxide were and are stiU used as fillers (qv) because of their low cost. Almost from plastics inception the limitation of black and white did not offer sufficient color choices for end users looking to differentiate their products. The increase in aesthetic requirements along with different performance requirements and resin compatibiUties led to a great expansion in the number of different chemical classes of colorants and forms in which these colorants are available in today s market. [Pg.456]

Some wood furniture is now faced with plastic laminate. Its resistance to chemicals is superior to that of most regular finishes, and color choices are wide. Best of all, such surfaces are very easy to keep clean. In case of damage, however, repairs can be difficult. [Pg.74]

Given the choices in this question, (A) is incorrect because most ions of transitions are colored. Choice (B) is correct, for the variation in oxidation state is a common characteristic of most transitions. Choice (C) is a property of the very active metals of the lA and HA groups, but not of the transition metals. Choice (D) is incorrect because the transition elements all exhibit metallic rather than nonmetallic characteristics. [Pg.92]

The Sixties were about sex, drugs, and rock n roll. It was the age of psychedelic. Chartreuse, hot pink and bold neon colors were very popular. Human and civil rights helped lead the black, white and red combinations.
