Secondary Treatments and Uses. Because hardboard products are utilized in a myriad of different ways, the variety of secondary treatments used by customers are practically unlimited. Hardboards are used in furniture, cabinets, paneling, doors, toys, and a host of other uses. Post-treatments may include cutting-to-size, finishing treatments with roU-appHed patterns, melamine overlays, printed paper overlays, paints, and even some extremely durable and water-resistant coatings used in tub and shower linings or other uses where water contact is frequent and extreme. [Pg.390]

This paper describes the catalytic activity of nickel phosphide supported on silica, alumina, and carbon-coated alumina in the hydrodesulfurization of 4,6-dimethyldibenzothiophene. The catalysts are made by the reduction of phosphate precursors. On the silica support the phosphate is reduced easily to form nickel phosphide with hi catalytic activity, but on the alumina support interactions between the phosphate and the alumina hinder the reduction. The addition of a carbon overlayer on alumina decreases the interactions and leads to the formation of an active phosphide phase. [Pg.357]

The most popular anode is the same coated titanium mesh used for impressed current cathodic protection. Instead of embedding it permanently in a cementitious overlay a temporary anode system is used. A proprietary system developed in Norway consists of shredded paper and water sprayed onto the surface to form a wet papier mache . The mesh anode is then fixed to the surface on wooden batons and a final layer of papier mache applied. The system is kept wet for the operational period. Figure 7.20 shows an early installation underway using a mild steel mesh anode. This is rarely used now for ECE. [Pg.190]
