Coal between

World coal usage, inclusive ot the three major types of coal—anthracite, bituminous (by far the most prevalent form) and lignite—reached a plateau in the first decade of the twentieth centuiy and climbed only very slowly in the half century that followed. By 1880, coal use had equaled wood use on a worldwide basis. The usage around the turn of the centuiy was on the order of 2.2 gigatons per year (around 55 quads), of which about 600 million tons were in the United States. World oil production progressively supplemented the use of coal between 1900 and 1950, increasing by more than an order of magnitude in that period of time, from a little over a quad to some 20 quads. Coal s increase over those years was fractionally much less. [Pg.255]

It is estimated that a H2 production efficiency of 77% can be achieved using the HyPr-Ring process, while producing a sequestration-ready, pure C02 stream (Lin et al., 2005). The distribution of carbon or coal between the two reactors is determined by the amount of heat required in the second reactor for the calcination. [Pg.579]

Authors concluded, that although the swelling degree is not directly connected with molecular characteristics of absorbed liquids, however determining factor is their parameter of solubility in spite of the fact that at detailed consideration of the dependencies Q =f(3) (or f(32)) there are a number of deviations (as same as in the work [5]) from the ideal curve for many solvents. It is necessary to notify that although it is hard to estimate the verisimilitude of determined in such a way molecular weights of structural links of a coal between the points of cross bonds, however, in a case of synthetic polymers in a same way determined masses of links visible don t agree with the values obtained in accordance with others methods. [Pg.53]

A. Lee (8) has developed a formula that correlates the mean specific heat of coal between 70 F and T in terms of its volatile matter content as follows... [Pg.53]

Fig. 4.15 A van Krevelen plot showing the evolutionary trends of the main kerogen types (shaded bands after Behar Vandenbroucke 1987) and most coals (between solid lines after Killops etal. 1998). With increasing maturity kerogens follow a path towards the origin, as shown for the low/high-H coals boundary. The main hydrocarbon-generation zones are shown, with their approximate rank boundaries (as vitrinite reflectance values, %Ro), together with the effect of loss of various volatiles from different kerogen compositions (CH2 = oil). Points represent the composition of kerogens in Fig.4.14. The Earth s upper crust contains 1.5-2 mg kg arsenic, coal between 0.5 and 93 mg kg with a mean value of... [Pg.1327]

Coal ground to <4.75 mm was placed in the plastometer equilibrated at 300 C. The coal was then heated at a standard rate of 3 C/min to the desired temperature without stirring and allowed to cool. Heat-treatment temperatures ranged in 25 increments between 300 and 550 C for the Pittsburgh No. 8 coal, between 300 and 500 C for the Illinois No. 6 coal, and between 400 and 550 C for the Lower Kittanning coal Other samples of these coals were subjected to the standard Bethlehem plastometer test to measure the temperatures of onset of fluidity, maximum fluidity, and resolidification. [Pg.295]

The thickness of coal between the inner interlocked low tail laneway and the working face should be controlled strictly (Xue Zhang 2007). [Pg.188]

In practice, the following aspects should be paid attention to in the layout and management of the inner interlocked low tail laneway firstly, the thickness of coal between the inner interlocked low tail laneway and the working face should be controlled strictly secondly, the relative pressure difference between the inner... [Pg.189]

Comparing the linear correlation coefficient and standard deviation for every kinetics mechanism function in Table 3, the NO. 19 function is the most probable one. In consequence, the anti Jander equation controlled by the three-dimensional diffusion model is the most probable mechanism function for reaction of KBL anthracite coal between 40°C and 70°C. [Pg.413]

Moving-bed gasifiers require sized coal for proper operation typically coal between inch and 2 inches in diameter is used. The countercurrent flow of gases and solids leads to high thermal efficiencies, with exit gas temperatures usually in the range of 500 to 1000°F. The raw product gas contains fines... [Pg.553]
