Clusters partitioning rule

The fiizzy partition matrix follows directly from the clustering calculations. Rules can subsequently be extracted by projecting the clusters onto the model variables. Figure 28.6 shows a data set with two clusters and two rales If x is thenp is B If x is thenp is fi. ... [Pg.389]

An essential feature of the Wade-Mingos rules [13-16] is the partitioning of the valence electrons of the cluster atoms into skeletal electrons and external electrons. For polyhedral boranes, the external electrons are used to form bonds to external groups, such as hydrogen atoms in the prototypical borane dianions However, for bare post-transition element clusters, these external electrons formally correspond to nonbonding electron pairs. Subsequent experimental and theoretical... [Pg.2]

It is easy to see that Cj,C2 is a hard partition of the classical set C. Thus, from these assignment rules we finally obtain the classical (or hard) hierarchy corresponding to the respective fuzzy hierarchy. Accordingly, the fuzzy divisive hierarchical clustering (FDHC) procedure may be used to obtain the optimal cluster structure of the data set and a hierarchical relationship between clusters and subclusters. The method is especially useful when the number of clusters is unknown. In most cases the number of clusters to be expected in the data set is unknown. [Pg.342]

The principal aim of performing a cluster analysis is to permit the identification of similar samples according to their measured properties. Hierarchical techniques, as we have seen, achieve this by linking objects according to some formal rule set. The K-means method on the other hand seeks to partition the pattern space containing the objects into an optimal predefined number of... [Pg.115]

Here we applied the test to an abstract full orientation function and successfully excluded one that was not chemically realizable. The test is applicable only in situations where hve quadruples a,b, c, d), (a, b, c, e), a,b,d,e), ( , c, d,e) and (h.c.d.e) are either all selected or their function values can be obtained by known minimal Radon partitions. We can only determine the abstract Radon partition corresponding to the 5-set a, b, c, d, e in such cases and decide whether or not it is a forbidden one. However, if we select quadruples of type i) and ii), then no such cluster of five quadruples is available as a rule, and Test 5 and Test 6 do not exclude any candidate abstract POP. [Pg.158]

The mathematical fundaments for possibilistic fuzzy clustering of fuzzy rules were presented. The P-FCAFR algorithm was used to organize the rules of the fuzzy model of the liquid level inside the Pilot Plant Reactor in the HPS structure. The partition matrix can be interpreted as containing the values of the relevance of the sets of rules in each cluster. This approach is currently showing its potential for modelling and identification tasks, particularly in the fault detection and compensation field. [Pg.904]

The clustering software computes the fuzzy. K -partition matrix U (a matrix with membership values of each feature to each cluster), and the consequence parameters / , for each rule i. [Pg.391]
