Cluster sampling method

Cluster sampling methods, which first identify a set of compound clusters, followed by the selection of several compounds from each cluster [73]. Grid-based sampling, which places all the compounds into a low-dimensional descriptor space divided into many cells and then chooses a few compounds from each cell [74]. 

It is now fairly well established that atomic and few-atom cluster arrays can be generated and trapped in weakly interacting matrices 91), and subsequently scrutinized by various forms of spectroscopy. There are four major types of sampling methods random, stratified, systematic, and cluster. Random is by far the most commonly employed method in toxicology. It stresses the fulfillment of the assumption of avoiding bias. When the entire pool of possibilities is mixed or randomized (procedures for randomization are presented in a later section), then the members of the group are selected in the order that are drawn from the pool. 

If a point sampled happened to be an active point, it is counted as an individual hit. Thus, the number of active points sampled by a particular method is defined as the individual hit rate obtained by that method. On the other hand, in order to characterize the representativeness of a sampling, we define the concept of a cluster hit as follows. If one or more points are sampled from an active cluster, we define that this active cluster is sampled and counted as a cluster hit. Therefore, the number of active clusters sampled by a particular method is defined as the cluster hit rate obtained by that method.

Discriminant function analysis. Discriminant function analysis (DFA) which is also referred to as canonical variates analysis is here the chosen cluster analysis method. DFA is usually used in a supervised mode, but can also be used in an unsupervised way. Here, the unsupervised mode is enabled by direct usage of the replicate information of object samples as classes. Data collection. Two data sets are used to demonstrate the multiscale cluster analysis method and have been kindly provided by Dr. Roy Goodacre at Institute of Biological Sciences. University of Wales, Aberystwyth [64,65]. Ten microlitre aliquots of bacterial suspensions were evenly applied onto a sand-blasted aluminium plate. Prior to analysis the samples were oven-dried at 50°C for 30 min. Samples were run in triplicate. A rapid sampling method for direct aerosol analysis using FD-mass spectrometer has been described . In a predominantly inorganic aerosol three alkali metal cations and a number of cluster ions of intact salts have been identified under the conditions of high mass resolution (R 15,000, 10 per cent valley definition) using photographic registration. 

ABSTRACT To explore scientific sampling methods and corresponding formulas for sensitive question survey on stratified cluster sampling. Cochran W.G. s sampling theories, Warner model, total probabihty formulas and properties of variance were used in this paper. Formulas for the estimate of the population proportion and its variance on Warner model in cluster sampling and stratified cluster samphng were deduced. With high reliability, our survey methods on Warner model may have an extensive application in sensitive question survey.
