Citrovorum factor conjugate

Citrovorum Factor Conjugate. The conjugate of CF does not seem to have been obtained pure, but only as a relatively concentrated product. Hill and Scott (274) succeeded in making this concentrate as follows. 

A suspension of 5 grams of brewers yeast in 100 ml. of distilled water was autoclaved at 110° for 30 minutes. After centrifugation, the supernatant liquid was the source of the CF conjugate. On incubation of the liquid for 12 hours with a preparation of conjugase from hog kidney, the Citrovorum factor activity increased threefold. 

The citrovorum factor (folinic acid) is assayed using Leuconostoc citrovorum 8081 ATCC (504). Folinic acid conjugate is determined by the same method as the free acid, except for a preliminary treatment with conjugase (274).
