Cleaning circulation

All pipelines will be circulated clean and those that are buried, or on the seabed, left filled with water or cement. Surface piping will normally be cut up and removed. Flexible subsea pipelines may be reeled-in onto a lay barge and disposed of onshore. [Pg.370]

Prevention and Control Site plants where they will get good air circulation. Clean up fallen needles prune off damaged tips. If plants have been infected in previous seasons, spray with bordeaux mix when new shoots are half-grown repeat 2 weeks later. [Pg.375]

Since oil is a liquid, it lubricates all surfaces and is able to dissipate heat from these surfaces more readily. Because oil retains its physical characteristics over a wider range of temperatures, it may be used for high-speed and high-temperature applications. The quantity of oil supplied to the bearing may be accurately controlled. Oil lubricants can be circulated, cleaned, and cooled for more effective lubrication. [Pg.555]

With circulation cleaning, the rate of flow through the equipment is critical. Large-diameter connections are preferred, and a high-capacity pump may be necessary to produce the required circulation. After cleaning, the equipment is drained, neutrahzed, flushed, and passivated. [Pg.243]

X1.S.2 Circulate clean filtered fuel at 3.4S MPa with MAN BYPASS valve in the open porition (no heat applied). [Pg.537]

A static leaf filter is used for cleaning machine tool coolants. These are used on the suction side of a pump circulating system, with the same pump employed for withdrawal of the filtrate as for backdushing the filter elements. SoHds in this case are removed from the sump by a scraper conveyor. [Pg.395]

In dipping generally, but particularly with the anode process, it is desirable to use tanks that circulate the coagulant and latex compound, particularly the latter. Use of circulation keeps the Hquid surface clean and free from lumps, scum, or bubbles. Mechanical circulation can cause mbber particle instabihty, however, and eventually coagulate the compound. Therefore, tanks should be designed to minimize friction or shear action, and the compound stabilized to maintain mechanical stabiUty. [Pg.259]

Cleanable Granular-Bed Filters The principal objective in the development of cleanable granular-bed filters is to produce a device that can operate at temperatures above the range that can be tolerated with fabric filters. In some of the devices, the granules are circulated continuously through the unit, then are cleaned of the collected dust and returned to the filter bed. In others, the granular bed remains in place but is periodically taken out of service and cleaned by some means, such as backflushing with air. [Pg.1605]

The normal regeneration temperature in the still will not regenerate heat-stable salts or oxazolidone-2. Therefore, a reclaimer is usually included to remove these contaminants. A side stream of from 1 to 3% of the MEA circulation is drawn from the bottom of the stripping column, This stream is then heated to boil the water and MEA overhead while the heat-stable salts and oxazolidone-2 are retained in the reclaimer. The reclaimer is periodically shut in and the collected contaminants are cleaned out and removed from the system. However, any MEA bonded to them is also lost. [Pg.164]

Gas turbines can operate in open or closed cycles. In a simple cycle (also known as an open cycle), clean atmospheric air is continuously drawn into the compressor. Energy is added by the combustion of fuel with the air. Products of combustion are expanded through the turbine and exhausted to the atmosphere. In a closed cycle, the working fluid is continuously circulated through the compressor, turbine, and heat exchangers. The disadvantage of the closed cycle (also known as the indirect cycle), and the reason why there are only a few in operation, is the need for an external heating system. That is an expensive addition and lowers efficiency. [Pg.1174]

The drilling string got stuck after remaining motionless in the hole circulation can be broken and continued at normal pressure. Permeable formation is exposed above the bit. The borehole is clean and in good condition, see Diagnosis of stuck pipe as above as above... [Pg.700]

Rheology Ideal requirements low viscosity with the yield point and geis necessary for hole cleaning and solids suspension. Practical recommendation A compromise should be found to minimize pressure losses and bring sand or cutting to the surface at reasonable circulating rate. [Pg.707]

If the circulating air has been saturated, then any formation water entering the annulus will be carried to the surface as droplets and will not reduce the temperature of the air and thereby reduce kinetic energy of the air as it expands in the annulus. The amount of formation water that can be carried from the borehole annulus by the real amount of air circulating is directly related to the additional air that is being circulated above that minimum value necessary to clean the hole of rock cuttings. [Pg.861]
