Chromatography hyphenated chromatographic techniques

Many techniques can be employed in the analysis of compounds that can be used in the manufacture of explosives and explosive materials. Raman and infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), mass spectrometry, and gas chromatography can all be used in the analysis of this type of material. Hyphenated chromatographic techniques, such as GC-MS and LC-MS, can also be used. 

This is undoubtedly the most important class of L-histidine derivatives only because of pilocarpine s (27) therapeutic uses [8, 23, 24]. Since Byasson s first report of jaborandi alkaloids isolation from the leaves of Pilocarpus spp. (Rutaceae) [8], in 1875, several other imidazole alkaloids have been reported in this genus. The identification of these was facilitated due to recent advances in hyphenated chromatographic techniques such as HPLC—ESI—MS/MS (high performance liquid chromatography with electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry). 

Coupling of analytical techniques (detectors) to high-performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) systems has increased in the last tree decades. Initially, gas chromatography was coupled to mass spectrometry (MS), then to infrai ed (IR) spectroscopy. Following the main interest was to hyphenate analytical techniques to HPLC.
