Chromatography, general particle size

In general, the efficiency of the columns used in ion chromatography is limited by the large-sized particles and broad particle size distributions of the resin packings. Resin beads are currently available in the ranges of 20-30, 37-74, and 44—57 pm. [Pg.527]

The results reported herein indicate that hydrodynamic chromatography is an accurate, reproducible technique for latex particle size distribution analysis. Typical analysis requires 15-20 minutes to complete and reproducibility is generally better than 5% for both reported particle size and mass percent. Latex particle size distributions found using HDC provide useful information about end use performance of many types of material (see Table V). [Pg.268]

For the different classes of colloidal materials, the characteristic length scale is generally termed particle size. Many techniques [3,4,5,6J have been developed for characterizing particle size and shape, including optical and electron microscopy, sedimentation, and various kinds of chromatography. Light scattering techniques have been utilized extensively because of their speed, versatility, and ease of use relative to the other methods. [Pg.200]
