Chromato-polarography

Because polarography is most suitable for continuous analysis, successful attempts have been made to analyse continuously effluents from chromatographic columns and paper strips. This combination of polarography and chromatography, called chromato-polarography , has been recently investigated and exploited by W. Kemula and his co-workers. [Pg.179]

Chromato-polarography can also be used for the analysis of the effluents from paper chromatograms. Another method ) used for the evaluation of paper chromatograms, recommends that the paper is placed on a drum of porous material, soaked with potassium chloride and connected to a reference electrode. The indicator electrode is a golden wire and it is placed around a wheel. The moistened chromatographic paper moves slowly between the drum and the wheel, and the current is measured at different positions of the paper. [Pg.183]

In the 1950s, the alternative to voltammetry started appearing among electrochemical methods the controlled current was applied and the ensuing electrode potential was measured—it was called chromato-polarography [415] or poten-tiometric polarography-controlled current scanning [416]. In these methods, the... [Pg.38]

Six papers from 1950 were followed by eight others in 1951 and nine papers in 1952. Almost all of these 17 papers (years 1950-1952), namely 16, were also related to different aspects of polarography. The year 1952 was important for the development of polarography or more widely of electroanalytical chemistry in Warsaw. That was mostly due to the method introduced by Prof. Kemula and named by him chromato-polarography. The first two papers based on the idea to combine the chromatographic separation with polarographic detection were published in Roczniki Chemii (Annals of Chemistry) by Prof. Kemula himself, while the third one was published in cooperation with Prof. Andrzej Gorski. [Pg.319]
