Pentacarbonyl[l -oxidocyclopropylidene]chromate(0) salts can act as acyl anion equivalents and add to enones to give 1,4-diketones. [Pg.1891]

The reaction of 3,3-dichloro-l,2-diphenylcyclopropene (1) with disodium peiitacarbonyl-chromate or disodium pentacarbonylmolybdatc afforded pentacarbonyl(2,3-diphenylcyclo-prop-2-enylidene)chromium (2, M = Cr) or the corresponding molybdenum complex 2 (M = Mo). which reacted with pyridinium ylides to give the 2//-pyran-2-ylidenc complexes 3. Chromium carbenes can also be prepared by the so-called Semmelhack-Hegedus route. Chromium hexacarbonyl is first reduced to a nucleophilic pentacarbonyl dichromate dianion 23 with sodium naphthalenide or potassium carbide. Reaction of this dianion species with an acid chloride gives a metal alkoxide that can be quenched with an electrophile to provide the desired chromate ester 24. Alternatively, the dianion can be added to an amide carbonyl to give a tetrahedral intermediated which collapses to the chromate amide 25 on treatment with trimethylsilyl chloride. [Pg.315]

The n-octylaminocarbene complex derived from glucose is synthesized from penta-acetylated gluconic acid chloride 326 addition of potassium pentacarbonyl chromate 251 followed by methylation gives chromium methoxycarbene 327 that undergoes low-temperature aminolysis with u-octylamine and 0-deprotection under basic conditions to afford chromium n-octylaminocarbene 328 (Scheme 11.68) [127]. [Pg.495]
