Some polysulfides contain in the polymer backbone other groups besides -S-. A common type of group is oxycarbonyloxy, such as in the polymer resulting from the reaction of phosgene (chloroformyl chloride or carbonic acid dichloride) with 4,4 -thiobisphenol. This reaction can be considered a polycondensation and can be written as follows ... [Pg.573]

Common Name(s) Carbonic Dichloride, Carbonyl Dichloride, Chloroformyl Chloride, CG, D-Stoff, Green Cross, Phosgene... [Pg.26]

General Remarks Phosgene, perhaps the most effective CWA of WWI, also has been called (1) carbonyl chloride (or dichloride), (2) Collongite, (3) D-Stoff, (4) chloroformyl chloride, and (5) CG (Ryan et al., 1996). Its CAS is 75-44-5. It is estimated that recent annual U.S. production demand is approximately 5400 million pounds. Its most important industrial use is in the production of isocyanates (R-N=C=0) (http / www.the-innovation-group.com). [Pg.33]

CHLOROFORMYL CHLORIDE (75-44-5) Poisonous gas. Decomposes slowly with water, producing hydrochloric acid and carbon monoxide. Reacts violently with strong oxidizers, anhydrous ammonia, isopropanol, chemically active metals, silicon tetrahydride, sodium. Forms shock-sensitive material with potassium. Incompatible with fert-butylazido-formate, sodium azide. Attacks most metals in moist conditions however, it may not affect monel, tantalum, or glass-lined equipment. Note Sodium hydroxide or anhydrous ammonia has been used to neutralize this gas. [Pg.295]
