3- chloro-2-hydroxypropyl

Cationic poly(vinyl alcohol) has been prepared by the reaction of A/-(3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl)-Ai,Ai,A/-trimethylammonium chloride, PVA, and sodium hydroxide (143). Reactions between alkyUdene epoxide and PVA in particulate, free-flowing form in an alkaline environment have been reported (144). [Pg.481]

Pigment retention and drainage additives made with polyamines include polyamines made from ethyleneamines, ethan olamines, and epichl orohydrin (262) ethyleneamines combined with phosphoms-modifted polyamines made by reaction of ethyleneamines with POCl [10025-87-3] (263) and a DETA—glutaric acid polyamide crosslinked with PEG-bis(3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl) ether (264). Polyamines made from ethyleneamines and EDC are useful flocculating agents (265). [Pg.48]

Reaction with N-(3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl)trimethylammonium chloride ... [Pg.296]

Indeed, we have found that N-(3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl)trimethylam-monium chloride is readily converted with sodium hydroxide to glycidyltri-methylammonium chloride, which obviously further reacts at a slower rate with lignin nucleophiles to form cationic lignin derivatives. [Pg.297]

After an oral dose of 6 mg/kg bw to rats, approximately 38% of the dose was exhaled as CO2, 50% was excreted as metabolites in the urine and 3% was present in faeces (Gingell et al., 1985). Concentrations were highest in liver, kidney and forestomach. The initial metabolic reactions are conjugation of the epoxide with glutathione, which is probably a chemical, not enzymatic, reaction, and hydration of the epoxide by epoxide hydrolase. The major metabolites in urine are jV-acetyl-5 -(3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl)-L-cysteine (36% of the dose) and 3-chloro-1,2-propanediol (a-chlorohydrin) (4%). [Pg.608]

To enhance the drug carrier properties of inulin, it has been reacted with epichlorohydrin, the product of which is highly reactive and couples readily with substances containing amino groups (Schacht et al., 1984). The 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl derivative (9) of inulin is formed in reaction with epichlorohydrin. Likewise, an allyl bromide derivative (10) can be prepared using sodium hydroxide as a catalyst (Tomecko and Adams, 1923). [Pg.78]

The addition product obtained from allyl alcohol and tellurium tetrachloride in refluxing chloroform, probably 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl tellurium trichloride, reacted with acetyl chloride or benzoyl chloride. 3-Chloro-2-acyloxypropyl tellurium trichlorides were isolated3. [Pg.322]

Cationic Starches. The two general categories of commercial cationic starches are tertiary and quaternary aminoalkyl ethers. Tertiary aminoalkyl ethers are prepared by treating an alkaline starch dispersion with a tertiary amine containing a p-halogenated alkyl, 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl radical, or a 2,3-epoxypropyl group. Under these reaction conditions, starch ethers are formed that contain tertiary amine free bases. Treatment with acid easily produces the cationic form. Amines used in this reaction include 2-dimethylarninoethyl chloride, 2-diethylaminoethyl chloride, and A -(2,3-epoxypropyl) diethylamine. Commercial preparation of low DS derivatives employ reaction times of 6—12 h at 40—45°C for complete reaction. The final product is filtered, washed, and dried. [Pg.345]
