Chloral hydrate syrup

Elixir is an example 23% alcohol with 40 mg of morphine in every bottle. Also, Mrs. Winslow s Soothing Syrup, with 0.05 g of morphine per bottle. Even patent medicines to cure morphine dependence were sold inevitably they contained alcohol or opium. Thomas Edison patented and marketed his own nostrum, Poly-Form. It contained morphine, chloroform, ether, chloral hydrate, alcohol, and spices.

Incompat Acids, alkalies, alum, ammonia water, amyl nitrite benzoates betanaphthol, phenol, calomel, chloral hydrate, copper sulfate, ferric chloride ferrous sulfate chromium trioxide (chromic acid), cinchona alkaloids, hydrocyanic acid iodides iodine Lead subacetate mercuric chloride, orthoform potassium permanganate, resorcinol, sod. bicarbonate sod. salicylate (in powder) soln arsenic and mercury iodide, spirit nitrous ether (unless prescribed with sod, bicarbonate), syrup ferrous iodide, tartar emetic tannic acid, thymol, urethane, infusions of catechu, cinchona, rose leaves and uva ursi tinctures of catechu, ferric chloride, cinchona, hamanielis iodine, kino, and rhubarb. 

Syrup of Chloral, B,P.C. A 20 per cent w/v solution of chloral hydrate in syrup and water. 

Syrup of Hydrate of Chloral. Mix together 2 scruples hydrate of chloral, 1 drachm water, and 7 drachms simple syrup.
