Chips shipping

Problem definition A colleague from the cookies product development department of your company has come to your office to describe what appears to be a significant business issue. Complaints of an off-flavor in your chocolate chip cookies, sold throughout the country, are being reported. Samples of the product are being shipped from the plant by overnight air. Tablet friability Friability is an important characteristic on the tablets ability to withstand chipping, cracking, or dusting during the packaging operations and shipping. 

After the veneer is peeled and is being transferred along belts, clippers cut out defects in the veneer. The veneer then proceeds along what is called the green (undried veneer) chain to forklift loading docks for transfer to the dryers. Kava destined for the pharmaceutical industry abroad and some for recreational use both locally and abroad is usually not processed further in the producing countries, but exported as chips, peels, roots, etc. It is stored temporarily in a dry location until it is shipped out. Traditionally, kava was pounded or chewed before the beverage was prepared. While chewing has virtually disappeared except in Vanuatu (and Wallis and Futuna), mechanical pounding is still widely practiced as many of the drinkers in the South Pacific contend that kava powder produced by mechanical grinding is usually discolored and of inferior quality. There is, however, no scientific evidence for this claim.

Certain cargo can shift during transportation if improperly stored, or it may cause structural damage to the ship. These include stone chips and pebbles, some ores and minerals, sands, etc. Some may harden to solids on exposure to moisture.
