Chemistry education descriptive teaching

Chemical demonstrations have been used by thousands of teachers over the many years that chemistry and science has been taught. They can be important tools for those who teach chemistry or science since they can capture the interest of students, provide oppormnities to teach students important scientific concepts, require students to think about what happened, and teach them the usefiilness of chemicals. The chemical education literature and many books are devoted to the description of chemical demonstrations and describe the rationale and pedagogy of preparing for and conducting demonstrations. ... 

Advanced Chemistry Laboratories. At this point, safety education is explicitly limited to brief safety-related descriptions included in each set of experimental instructions. In organic chemistry laboratories, students encounter hoods for the first time, and the extent of instruction depends primarily on the initiative of the teaching assistant in charge of a given laboratory.
