Chemistry, automatic, definition

In Chapter 1, an attempt was made to define laboratory automation or automatic chemistry . Denton [S] has given an unusual definition which outlines the complexity of... [Pg.235]

There is often a grey area concerning the best definition for small particulate matter. In particular, most structures are automatically referred to as nanoscale materials," fueled by the popularity of the nanotechnology revolution. However, the most precise use of the nano" prefix e.g., nanoparticles) is only for materials with architectural dimensions e.g., diameters, thicknesses, etc.) of less than 100 nm intermediate dimensions between 100 and 1,000 nm should instead be referred to as submicron." CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics, 84th ed., CRC Press New York, 2004. [Pg.11]

Prior to the fitting, the chemical reaction model on which the analysis will be based needs to be defined. As mentioned above ReactLab and other modem programs incorporate a model translator that allows the definition in a natural chemistry language and which subsequently translates automatically into internal coefficient information that allows the automatic construction of the mathematical expressions required by the numerical and spieciation algorithms. Note for each reaction an initial guess for the rate constant has to be supplied. The ReactLab model is for this reaction is shown in Figure 9. [Pg.52]
