Chemiluminescent nitrogen detector CLND

Recently, new analytical techniques incorporating instruments such as the evaporative light-scattering detector (ELSD) [36] and the chemiluminescent nitrogen detector (CLND) [37] have begun to be used to address the issue of quantitative analysis. Due to the relative novelty of these methods in their application to combinatorial chemistry, we will spend some time describing them in more detail. 

Here we will describe several approaches of quantitative analysis of combinational libraries in Affymax, including QC of libraries by chemiluminescent nitrogen detector (CLND), quantitative analysis by standard bead LCVMS method, and estimation of concentration from UV response. 

The HPLC system, an Alliance 2790, with thermostatted autosampler and divert valve LabPro, UV detector 2487 and satin interface, and ZQ mass spectrometer with ESI interface, were products of Waters Inc., Milford, Massachusetts. The chemiluminescent nitrogen detector (CLND) model 8060 was a product of ANTEK Instruments Inc., Houston, Texas. The liquid handler Miniprep 75 was a product of Tecan Group Ltd., Maennedorf, Switzerland.
