Polyaniline filaments within the mesoporous channel host (aluminosilicate) have significant conductivity, and this demonstration of conjugated polymer with mobile charge carriers in nanometer channels represents a step toward the design of nanometer electronic devices. These composites have potential as stable molecular wires, which can be applied in the design of batteries and systems to accumulate electric charge. SBA-15 with polyaniline inside the pore channels was used as a dispersed phase in electro-rheological (ER) fluids. [Pg.584]

Both experimental evidence [63] and Monte Carlo simulation [64] have shown that the removal of guest molecules from urea inclusion compounds leads to collapse of the channel host framework to produce the tetragonal crystal structure of pure urea. Thus there is always a dense packing of guest molecules within the channel structure of urea inclusion compounds [36a]. The migration of molecules into the channel structure of urea inclusion compounds has been probed by high-resolution solid-state NMR spectroscopy [34]. [Pg.169]

The layered double hydroxides (LDHs) architecture was also used to design 3D frameworks with large channels hosting the plenary Keggin HPA [142]. The material exhibited a 3D Ce(III) hydrotalcite-like structure constructed from 2D cationic [ Ce(H20)5 2 Ce(pdc)2(H20)4 Ce(pdc)3 ] " layers, where pdc = pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylate, pillared by [PWi204ol anions (see Fig. 3.22). [Pg.96]
