Change, effectively managing evaluation

It is a fact that in recent years, the average quality of crude oil has become worse. This is reflected in a progressive decrease in API gravity (i.e., increase in density) and a rise in sulfur content (Swain, 1991, 1993). However, it is now believed that there has been a continued tendency for the quality of crude oil feedstocks to deteriorate (Swain, 1998). Be that as it may, the nature of crude oil refining has changed considerably. This, of course, has led to the need to manage crude quality more effectively through evaluation (Chapter 2) and prod-... [Pg.15]

Another major responsibility of this department is change control management. To effectively evaluate the potential impact of a process change, it is important to contemplate how the predefined quality attributes might be affected—as well as other chemical/physical attributes not normally tested or evaluated. This requires people who have a firm understanding of the chemistry of the process and an... [Pg.277]

An appointed person controls the CAPA system and takes care of timely determination and execution of actions, and thereby closing of pending problems. System actions that lead to structural changes should be evaluated following the change procedure, to estabUsh the effects of the modification on other parts of the quality management system. [Pg.788]

Have an effective management of change system in place—through which hazards and risks are identified and evaluated in the change process. [Pg.12]

Another approach is to do a periodic audit of 5 to 10 management of change packages to evaluate the effectiveness of the MOC/PSSR system. This provides a quality control metric for comparison over time. [Pg.97]
