Chalk River Laboratory, National Research

Canadian Neutron Beam Centre, National Research Council Canada, Building 459, Chalk River Laboratories, Chalk River ON, Canada, KOJ IJO... [Pg.494]

The first isotope shipment from Chalk River was a quantity of cerium-144 that was sent to the University of Saskatchewan on October 31, 1947. By the winter, shipments were going out to university researchers across the country. NRX produced its two-hundredth isotope in March 1948. At first Chalk River provided these substances free of charge, in a spirit of collegiality. This was also the practice USAEC s Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in Tennessee, which announced early in April 1948 that it would supply cancer researchers with isotopes without charge. ... [Pg.45]
