Cementation characteristics

In the dry process the limestone and clay materials are crushed and stored in separate bins and their composition analyzed. After the composition is known, the contents of the bins are blended to achieve the desired ultimate cement characteristics. The blend is ground to a mesh size of 100-200. This small mesh size maximizes the contact between individual particles. [Pg.1178]

Fly ash addition was obviously (Table 8) increasing the demand for the water for the standard consistence and prolonging the setting time, but has no influence on the other cement characteristics. All characteristics were in the compliance with the Yugoslav standard JUS B.C1.011. [Pg.178]

Blends of two or more binders may yield products whose chemistry of hydration and cementing characteristics may or may not differ significantly from those of pure cements constituting the blend. The properties of the new binder will depend both on the quality of the original binders being blended together, and on their mutual ratio in the blend. The properties of the resulting combination of binders may be either beneficial or imwelcome. Table 15.4 shows the properties of blends of selected cements as published by Heble et al. (1997). [Pg.253]

Oil having characteristics that make it unsuitable for further use or economic recycling. This material may be usable as a fuel in large industrial furnaces, such as cement kilns. [Pg.1]

Aluminide and sUicide cementation coatings such as TaAl on tantalum and MoSi2 on molybdenum oxidize at slow rates and possess some inherent self-repair characteristics. Fine cracks that appear and are common to these coatings can be tolerated because stable, protective oxides form within the cracks and seal them. Thermal cycling, however, accelerates faUure because of thermal expansion mismatch that ultimately dismpts the protective oxide coating. [Pg.47]

The main characteristic properties of asbestos fibers that can be exploited in industrial appHcations (8) are their thermal, electrical, and sound insulation nonflammabiUty matrix reinforcement (cement, plastic, and resins) adsorption capacity (filtration, Hquid sterilization) wear and friction properties (friction materials) and chemical inertia (except in acids). These properties have led to several main classes of industrial products or appHcations... [Pg.354]

Zinc Oxide—Eugenol Cements. Zinc oxide—eugenol cements have many uses in dentistry. The admixture of powdered zinc oxide [1314-13-2] and Hquid eugenol [97-33-OJ, fotins a bland, easily mixed paste having exceUent working time but slow-setting characteristics. [Pg.474]

The compositions of zinc oxide—eugenol impression pastes are similar to those of the zinc oxide—eugenol cements (86). Variations in specific characteristics are achieved by the proportions of the ingredients (87). Properties vary in commercial products (88). The modifications of the zinc oxide—eugenol system intended for bite-registration pastes may include agents to increase the body or thixotropic character of the unset mix to improve... [Pg.474]

If the rock is abrasive, the first stage of crushing may use gyratory or jaw crushers, otherwise a rotor-impact mill. Their reduction ratio is only 1 12 to 1 18, so they often must be followed by a hammer mill, or they can feed a roll press. Rotor crushers have become the dominant primaiy crusher for cement plants because of the characteristics. All of these types of crushers may be installed in moveable crusher plants. [Pg.1871]
