Cellulose sulfoethyl

In ion exchange chromatography cation exchangers, such as carboxymethyl cellulose, sulfoethyl cellulose, and sulfopropyl cellulose, are commonly used. The anion exchangers most commonly used are diethylaminoethyl cellulose and triethylaminoethyl cellulose. [Pg.1138]

Cation-exchange columns have been used effectively by some investigators for the fractionation of casein (Annan and Manson 1969 Kim et al 1969 Kopfler et al. 1969 Snoeren et al. 1977 Saito et al 1979). Sulfoethyl-Sephadex was used by Annan and Manson (1969) with formate buffer to fractionate the as-casein complex. Cellulose phosphate, carboxyl-methyl-cellulose (CMC), potassium-K-carrageenan, and sodium Amberlite CG50 columns have also been used to fractionate the caseins (Kim et al. 1969 Kopfler et al. 1969 Snoeren et al 1977). A batch method for the preparation of para-K-casein from rennin-treated whole casein has been developed with CMC Sephadex (Saito et al. 1979). [Pg.133]

Sodium 2-chloroethanesulfonate, ClCH2CH2S03Na, and sodium ethylene sulfonate, CH2=CHS03Na, have been used industrially and in the laboratory to solubilize starch, cellulose, and other compounds by sulfoethylation. [Pg.336]

Cellulose-based ion exchangers. Their chemical structure is a hydrophilic cellulose network having acidic (carboxylmethyl, sulfoethyl, etc.) or basic (amino-ethyl, diethylaminoethyl, etc.) groups. [Pg.2273]

Carboxyethyl cellulose (CEC) obtained by reaction of acrylamide with alkaline cellulose and subsequent - hydrolysis. Properties are similar to CMC. Other cellulose ethers are sodium 2-sulfoethyl cellulose (SEC) and phosphonomethyl cellulose (PMC). The mixed ether of the latter with hydro-xyethylated cellulose (HEPMC) shows unusual gelling properties with multivalent cations at different pH values. [Pg.41]
