If the final product desired is teUurium metal, excess free caustic soda is required in the sodium teUurite solution. The solution is electrolyzed in a ceU using stainless steel anodes to produce teUurium metal (20). This technology is used at the CCR Division of Noranda MetaUurgy Inc., Canada, and at Pacific Rate Metals Industties Inc., the Philippines. Typical electrolysis conditions ate given in Table 2. 

A completely new approach for BTX production has emerged in recent years. It converts to paraffins into aromatics using a modified ZSM-5 zeoHte catalyst which contains gallium (19). An example of this approach, the Cyclar process, has been in commercial operation by British Petroleum at Grangemouth, Scotiand since August 1990 (20). It uses C —feed and employs UOP s CCR technology to compensate for rapid catalyst coking. 

The catalysts used in this CCR commercial service must meet several stringent physical property requirements. A spherical particle is required so that the catalyst flows in a moving bed down through the process reactors and regenerator vessel. These spheres must be able to withstand the physical abuse of being educated and transferred by gas flow at high velocity. The catalyst particles must also have the proper physical properties, such as particle size, porosity, and poresize distribution, to achieve adequate coke combustion kinetics. 

The next step of the UOP method of CCR regeneration is oxidation and chlorination. In this step, the catalyst is oxidized in air at about 510°C. A sufficient amount of chloride is usually added as an organic chloride, such as trichloroethane, to restore the chloride content and acid function of the catalyst to that of the fresh catalyst. If the platinum crystaUites ate smaller than about 10 nm, sufficient chlorine is present in the gas to completely tedispetse agglomerated platinum on the catalyst, as a result of the Deacon equUibtium ...
