Cationic palladium methoxycarbonyl

Pugh RI, Drent E (2002) Methoxycarbonylation versus hydroacylation of ethene dramatic influence of the ligand in cationic palladium catalysis. Adv Synth Catal 344(8) 837-840. doi 10.1002/1615-4169(200209)344 8 <837 aid-adsc837>3.0.co 2-l... [Pg.128]

In the 1980s Drent and colleagues at Shell found a remarkable change in catalytic behaviour when monodentate phosphines were replaced with certain bidentate diphosphines. Cationic palladium(II) catalysts generated in methanol from Pd(OAc)2, PPhs and the acid of a weakly coordinating anion (e.g. tosylate, triflate) catalyzed the methoxycarbonylation of ethylene to... [Pg.138]

The discovery of the above-mentioned class of highly efficient alkyne carbonylation catalysts originated from a general study of reactions homogeneously catalyzed by cationic metal complexes [6, 8, 9], e. g., the methoxycarbonylation of propyne (eq. (2)). The catalysts applied were cationic palladium phosphine systems prepared in situ from three components (1) palladium acetate, (2) an excess (10-40-fold on Pd) of a (mono)phosphine ligand(L) and (3) an acid (HX) [8]. Methanol was used as both reactant and solvent, but many other solvents can also be used, such as A-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) or product MMA. [Pg.318]

As with carboxylic acids obtained by palladium hydroxycarbonylation, their derivatives esters, amides, anhydrides and acyl halides are synthesized from alkenes, CO and HX (X = OR, NR2 etc.). The Pd-catalyzed methoxycarbonylation is one of the most studied reactions among this type of catalyzed carbonylations and has been reviewed and included in reports of homogeneous catalysis.625, 26 The methoxycarbonylation has been applied to many different substrates to obtain intermediates in organic syntheses as well as specific products. For instance, the reaction has been applied for methoxycarbonylation of alkynes666 Highly efficient homogeneous Pd cationic catalysts have been reported and the methoxycarbonylation of alkynes has been used to develop economically attractive and environmentally benign process for the production of methyl... [Pg.191]
