Effects of Li content on the catalytic behaviors and structures of LiNiLaOx catalysts The dpendence of performance of LiNiLaOx catalysts on Li content at 1073K was shown in Fig.l. When D/Ni mole ratio was 0, the relatively acidic LaNiOx had the highest CH4 conversion(92.0%), but no C2 yielded. The products were CO, CO2 and H2, and CO selectivity was 98.3%. It is not an OCM catalyst but a good catalyst for partial oxidation of methane(POM). With Li content and the baric property of LiNiLaOx catalysts increasing, CH4 conversion and CO selectivity decreased, but there was still no C2 formed imtil Li/Ni mole ratio was 0.4. Poisoning of metal catalysts may provide a tool for improving selec> tivity by affecting the concentrations of ensembles required by different reaction paths. This is illustrated by steam reforming on sulfur passivated nickel catalysts and the results are compared with observations for sulfided platinum-rhenium catalysts for catalytic reforming and for a chlorine poisoned palladium catalyst for partial oxidation of methane.

The relationships between the composition and structure of the metaphosphate melts, especially containing such difficulty fusible metals as molybdenum and tungsten, are of essential interest for direct electrolytic preparation of the individual metals and their alloys. Certain d-metal complexes arising in metaphosphate melts exhibit unique properties of melted catalysts for partial oxidation of methane [1-3] and electrolytes for direct isolation of metal alloys [4,5], Of particular, promise is the electrolysis of technological products of their conversion, i.e., solutions of M0O3 and WO3 in sodium metaphosphate melts. 

Absolute concentrations are, however, often difficult to establish due to the lack of information on extinction coefficients and due to different adsorption probabilities under the prevailing conditions. Instructive examples for research along these lines are the observation of Cu-Zn interactions in working methanol synthesis catalysts [28] and of coexistence of metal and ionic Ru sites in alumina-supported Ru catalysts for partial oxidation of methane [29].
