Catalyst layer performance modeling

In the section Structure Eormation in Catalyst Layers and Effective Properties aspects related to the self-organization phenomena in CL inks will be discussed. These phenomena determine the effective properties for transport and electrocatalytic activity. Thereafter, catalyst layer performance models that involve parameters related to structure, processes, and operating conditions will be presented. 

Understanding of the mesoscopic structure is needed in order to rationalize local reaction conditions in nanopores. The conclusive step is to relate the hierarchy of structural effects to the performance of a catalyst layer. Owing to the importance of catalyst layer performance modeling. Chapter 4 will be devoted to this topic.

From the modeling perspective, all catalyst layers perform the same job with the aid of neutral molecules, they convert a flux of ions or protons into a flux of electrons, or vice versa.
