Case, Janet

As with most cases of lupus, Janet Johnson was initially diagnosed as having arthritis. She went to the doctor complaining of fever, being sore all over and too weak to get out of bed. She was put on Motrin and promptly developed a rash all over her body. 

But just as important in this case was an unsolicited remark made by Janet. She said that her mental change was the most important part of her improvement. She had become morose, depressed, and irritable. If she quit the peroxide, her symptoms would return. It was so dramatic that her family members could tell when she was not taking her peroxide. 

Communications will become increasingly important. At the moment, teaching computers tend to be linked to each other only in local area networks (see Figure 4.2). In some cases, these are connected via campus mainframe networks to national networks such as JANET (Joint Academic Network). However, in the main, these wider communications are only used for such things as electronic mail. It is likely that, in the future, these links will be used... 

The last case of wild smallpox occurred on September 11,1977. One last victim was claimed by the disease in the United Kingdom in September 1978, when Janet Parker, a medical photographer in the University of Birmingham Medical School, contracted the disease and died, and the Professor responsible for the unit killed himself. A research project on smallpox was being conducted in the building at the time, although the exact route by which Ms. Parker became infected has never been fully elucidated. 

A variety of weights have been attached to the involvement of Woolf (then Virginia Stephen) with the suffragist cause. At the beginning of 1910, she had written to her friend and Greek tutor Janet Case ...
