We have a huge mismatch between the school calendar and the realities of family life, says Dr. Ernest Boyer, head of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. [Pg.584]

After leaving Germany in 1935, he became a guest lecturer at the University of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon, Canada) with financial support by the Carnegie Foundation, and he later became research professor of physics, staying there until 1945. [Pg.126]

There are numerous ways in which the scholarship of education can be defined. In 1990, Ernest L. Boyer s report Scholarship Reconsidered Priorities of the Professoriate by ftie Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching (/) provided an expanded view of what was defined as scholarship. This report was further interpreted with respect to chemistry education research in a document by the Task Force on Chemical Education Research of the ACS Division of Chemical Education (2). In particular, Boyer s report provided for scholarship to be defined along four dimensions discovery, teaching, integration and application (Table I). [Pg.219]

He contributed to discoveries of the photosynthetic carbon reduction cycle. In addition, the opal glass method for the spectral characterization of chloroplasts was firmly established during this stay at Berkeley. Invited by Stacy French, he spent 1955-56 at the Carnegie Foundation Research Laboratories, Stanford, California studying the greening of etiolated... [Pg.865]
