Carboxylate binding agents

In 2011, Jacobsen and coworkers developed a dual catalyst system consisting of a chiral primary amine-thiourea and an achiral thiourea for the intramolecular [5-1-2] cycloaddition based on oxidopyiylium intermediates (Scheme 19.57). This cooperative catal)4ic system provided easy access to tricyclic structures in moderate yields (37-77%) and good to high enantioselectivities (80-95% enantiomeric excess). Schreiner s thiourea 8 is proposed to be a carboxylate-binding agent, acting in cooperation with primary amine-thiourea 50. [Pg.233]

Lignin is a major component of plants where it serves as a binding agent for cellulose and other materials, and the kraft process of paper production, heating with alkali and sulfide, produces polyhydroxy phenolic, carboxylic acid, and sulfide functional groups in a soluble black liquor mixture [5]. Acidification precipitates this modified lignin as a powder, hereafter referred to as limin, a 20630% by product in the manufacture of paper. [Pg.413]

The acetone employed in another static immersion test was concentrated as in the case of the MTBE and analyzed. The infrared spectrum of the acetone concentrate Indicated the presence of a carboxylic acid and possibly a short chain alcohol species. Comparison of the infrared spectrum obtained to those of known polymer binding agents indicated that the carboxylic acid is similar to those in the Shell Versatlc acid series, closely resembling Versatic 911 (22). [Pg.201]

Now that we have successfully synthesized a model of the acyl-enzyme intermediate of chymotrypsin, we wanted to synthesize a model of the enzyme, chymotrypsin, itself. We attempted to do this by attaching the three catalytic groups, imidazolyl, hydroxyl, and carboxylate ion to the binding agent, cyclamylose as shown theoretically in Figure 6 and... [Pg.441]

The positive electrode is produced as follows the LiCo02 powder of the positive active material and carhon black conducting agent are mixed with an N-methyl pyrrolidone (NMP) solution of PVDF binder to make a paste of appropriate viscosity. A mixture of water and carboxyl methylcellulose (CMC), with styrene butadiene rubber (SBR, used as a binding agent), is also used for making such paste. [Pg.364]

Subsequently, Huang and Du have reported a carboxylate-substituted pillar[6]arene-valved MSN, which was used for stimuli-responsive drug delivery. The release of cargo was triggered by acidic pH or competitive binding agents. [Pg.259]
