Cantilever flow-through system

The reactor (Fig. 1) consists of a hollow quartz ( engineered glass ) tube with a material test bed located at the tip of the quartz element. The tapered element oscillates in a clamped-free mode as a cantilever beam. Catalyst particles held in place by a packing of quartz wool and a metal cap fill the test bed. As gas flows through the tapered element and the catalyst bed, the system records changes in the mass of the catalyst bed resulting from interactions with the gas stream. [Pg.352]
