These are probably the most popular piece of lire woiks made from a tales point of view. Up to some years ago they were made entirely by hand that is. one at a rime. Then a combinarion rammer taking a doxen at a rime was devised. And later the Candle Machine which handles six doxen was perfedted. To make roman candles by hand, roB the cases as described and have a lot of Stars of difierent colors ready. Then make soma candle composition as follows ... 

Now, place an empty case on the pin pour in a scoop of clay and ram it firmly with a light mallet. Remove rammer pour in a scoop of gunpowder on top of which drop a Star and laAly, a scoop ol candle com position. Ram with about six blows of a light mallet. Remove rammer and pour in another scoop of gunpowder, another Aar and another scoop of candle composition, repeating this until case is filled to within 2 of the top. Resnove candle and finish as described under that head...
