Canadian provinces and territories

Use two-letter abbreviations for U.S. state and territory names and the District of Columbia and for Canadian province and territory names on all letters going through the U.S. Postal Service and most express delivery services. Use them after the name of a city in text, footnotes, and references. 

The Canadian National Air Pollution Surveillance (NAPS) network is one of the major air quality monitoring initiatives in the country. Note Canadian and Mexican commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers are not required to have in their possession a medical examiner s certificate if the driver has been issued, and possesses, a valid commercial driver s license issued by the United Mexican States or by a Canadian Province or Territory. However, Mexican and Canadian drivers with certain medical conditions are not qualified to drive CMVs in the United States. 

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has also determined that all ten of the Canadian Provinces and the Yukon Territory have periodic inspection programs that are comparable to, or as effective as federal requirements. 

The Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality, published by Health Canada, state a Maximum Allowable Concentration of 0.010 mg/1 (10 pg/1) and is based on a sample taken after flushing. The Guideline was developed in 1992 and subsequently implemented by the provinces and territories and remains the health-based lead limit for drinking water in Canada. 

The role of the GSC was to facilitate contributions from approximately 60 quahfied Canadian professionals. These professionals contributed as advisors, editors, authors and reviewers.
